Spring and summer are the seasons of beach days and bbq’s but also a time of great celebration! Graduation and wedding season are in full swing and I wanted to share some tips for someone who wanted to try something a bit different for their special day. With this look I wanted to show that a gorgeous, glamorous makeup look can be achieved with colours that may seem out of the ordinary. For the second installment of the trio tutorials, I will be using Elate’s eyeshadows in Lithe, Earthen and Rebirth.
A tip for when experimenting with colour is keep the placement of your eyeshadows simple. You could substitute the colours from this look to neutral browns and have a glamorous, classic eye look.
How to: Use Earthen all over your lid, blending above your crease. Using a smaller, denser brush apply Rebirth in a “C” shape in your crease connecting to the lash line. With a flat eyeshadow brush, pat Lithe eyeshadow onto the centre of the lid filling in the gap between Earthen and Rebirth. Line with Origin liner in a bold, cat eye shape. Under the eye, blend Earthen from the outer end of the lash line all the way to the inner corner. Using Rebirth, smudge with a small shadow ¾ of the way across the lash line. If you would like to deepen this look even more, define the lower lashes with Stillness shadow. Apply mascara and false lashes (a must for photos!).
On the cheeks I bronzed up the skin with Sunkiss Bronzer on the hollows of the cheek bones and around the hairline, then on the sides of the nose and the chin with whatever is left on the brush. I then added a subtle pink tint with Desire blush. If you like to glow, add a touch of Ethereal Twinkle Powder to the high points of the cheek bones, inner corners of the eyes and the cupids bow of the lips. To tie everything together I chose Chance lipstick, a lovely neutral that will support the rest of the look.
