In 2019, Elate partnered with Plan International Canada to support their Because I am a Girl initiative. Every day, millions of girls around the world are denied their basic human rights – simply because they are girls. Launched in 2012, Because I am a Girl is Plan International’s initiative that supports the youth-led movement to advance girls’ rights and gender equality around the world.
We have committed 1% of Elate’s total retail sales for 2019 to support the Because I Am a Girl initiative. Donations are directed to programs that help promote gender equality and inclusion, and equip girls with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to reach their full potential.

ONE TREE PLANTED IS A 501C3 NON-PROFIT WITH A FOCUS ON GLOBAL REFORESTATION.
As an environmental charity, they are dedicated to making it easier for individuals and businesses to give back to the environment, fight climate change, protect biodiversity and help reforestation efforts around the world. All by planting trees! Started in 2014, they have more than doubled the number of trees planted year over year. Fast-forward to today, they now work with awesome reforestations partners in North America, South America, Asia, and Africa who help them get trees in the ground to restore forests after fires and floods, create jobs, build communities, and protect habitat for biodiversity. In 2018, we were able to get more trees in the ground than ever before - 1.3 million!
In November 2018, we adopted our first orphan elephant in the care of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Maisha was rescued at the age of 9 months, having collapsed after suffering from severe dehydration during drought conditions. Now 2 years old, Maisha is thriving at the Nairobi Nursery Unit in Kenya. In April of 2019, to celebrate World Save the Elephant Day, we adopted two more orphans. Dololo, a 1 year old bull calf, was found submerged in mud and unable to free himself. Larro, just 9 months old at the time of her rescue, was orphaned due to human-wildlife conflict. All three orphans live together at the Nairobi Nursery, along with several other orphan elephants and will remain there until they are old enough to move to one of the three Reintegration Units managed by the Trust.
In addition to the orphan rehabilitation project, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust patrols wildlife areas for poachers and traps, helps injured wildlife with rehabilitation, provides water relief, and offers wildlife education to local schools.
